Although we are lucky that
we get a lot of sun hours in southern Spain it is possible,
especially in the mountains, to experience spells of bad weather
which thankfully usually will come with wind. Also there are
places that get wind blowing nearly all the time due to their
geographical location, be it coast or campo. People who live in
these areas are often using small wind generators along side
solar panels. Wind generators in the correct site can be an
excellent, reliable source of clean energy. Before investing in
a wind generator it is essential to make a reasonably long-term
study of your particular site to make sure you will get a good
return from it. Noting how many windy days and sun days is a
good start; also fairly localised information on average wind
speeds is available on the Internet. With as much site specific
information as possible, and of course your power requirements,
we can move forward and select the correct equipment to suit
your needs, from the compact Air X (shown on the right) to the amazing Windeco Vento
5kw. |

When
comparing prices of different wind generators it is necessary to
gain as much information as possible about the
“ product“ that is offered for sale.
Sometimes the “price” will include the tower and all related
control equipment, leaving (depending
on the size of the tower) only a
digging machine (JCB), crane and
concrete to be sourced locally. More often however it is only
the “generator” unit itself that is priced and so more parts
need to researched, selected and then priced into the real cost
of a “complete, installable kit”,
before making direct comparisons between products and prices . |
