Thank you for your interest in my alternative power systems (photovoltaic panels and wind generators). These pages have been put together so that people such as yourselves can see what they may expect when they have such a system installed. It should be of help to people who plan to use this type of equipment and are still at the design stage of their first system and also to existing users who perhaps don’t know what products are available in 2007.

Every system should have a calculated idea of the power it will need to supply , an equation starting with the expected daily consumption of power. What goes out, must go in ,so to speak….

Many people have been living with basic systems that usually consist of one photovoltaic (pv) solar panel, a small charge controller and perhaps a “truck” style battery.

This type of system is often sufficient to give lighting for a small house and, may be able to power a small inverter to give 220volts AC power for small electrical items .Used carefully and  (as always) with an eye to the coming days of weather this serves very well . As long as the panel site has good daily hours of solar exposure so that the energy used from the battery can be replaced each day by the solar panel, (it is assumed  that the sun always shines tomorrow) it can be a very reliable and economical way to go as long as you accept the limitations of such a system.

It is now possible with modern equipment to generate and store enough energy to provide private houses and businesses in remote areas with ALL the electricity they require.

A very large domestic system, 48volt batteries, 1kw solar, 3kw wind generator and automatic starting generator. (The batteries are behind the wooden panel in a seperate vented enclosure, with windows for easy battery level check).
